Executive Board Roles

President

  • Chairs the STAT Executive Committee
  • Presides at all STAT Board of Directors meetings
  • Performs all duties incident to the office of STAT President and other such duties as may be prescribed by the STAT Board of Directors
  • Approves the agenda for all membership, EC and Board meetings
  • Appoints, with STAT Executive Committee approval, pro tem STAT Officers to fill interim vacancies on the Executive Committee
  • Serves as a member of the Budget and Legislative Committees
  • Ensures an annual internal audit of STAT financial records
  • Schedules an annual evaluation of all appointed and contract positions with Past President and President-Elect
  • Represents the organization at local, regional, state and national meetings and conferences
  • Serves as the official spokesperson for STAT
  • Presides over strategic planning

President-Elect

  • Assumes the duties of the STAT President in the absence or inability of the President to serve
  • Serves as a member of the STAT Executive Committee
  • Select chairs and members of STAT Standing and Ad Hoc Committees to serve during his/her term as STAT President and announces the selections at the Executive Committee changeover meeting
  • Chairs the Policy and Procedures Committee and Membership
  • Serves as a member of the Budget Committee
  • Serves in place of the president on legislative committee when needed

Immediate Past President

  • Advises the STAT President and President-Elect
  • Serves as a member of the STAT Executive Committee
  • Serves as a member of the Budget Committee
  • Chairs the CAST Committee for the conference that occurs during the year of the STAT Past President’s term of office

Vice President

The position of Vice President was replaced by an additional Member-at-Large position in the May 2018 STAT Bylaws revision.

  • Serves as a member of the STAT Executive Committee
  • Chairs the Membership Committee to recruit new members and retain members
  • Serves on a STAT standing committee
  • Serves in other duties as assigned by Executive Committee or President
  • Works as needed at CAST

Secretary

  • Accurately records the minutes of all regular and special STAT Executive Committee meetings, Board of Directors meetings and the annual membership meeting at CAST
  • Carries out correspondence specifically related to the duties of the office
  • Assists in carrying on the general correspondence of STAT
  • Within ten (10) business days of all meetings that involve action items, sends a copy of the minutes to each board member
  • Serves as a member of the STAT Executive Committee
  • Serves on a STAT standing committee
  • Relinquishes copies of all records, documents, and STAT property or equipment to the STAT Executive Director for archiving at the end of his/her term of office
  • Assists the Affiliate Liaison and document Affiliate requirements
  • Works as needed at CAST

Treasurer

  • Serves as a member of the STAT Executive Committee
  • Supervises the maintenance of an accurate record of payment of dues by STAT members
  • Supervises the maintenance of an itemized accounting of STAT income and disbursements
  • Supervises, with the STAT Executive Committee, STAT reserve funds
  • Reviews online bank accounts at least monthly
  • Submits financial reports at each STAT Board of Directors meeting and at the annual membership meeting at CAST
  • Signs reimbursement checks during CAST
  • Chairs the Budget Committee
  • Reviews an annual budget prepared by the STAT office and reviews the budget with the budget committee
  • Works as needed at CAST

Member-at-Large (4 as of 2019-20 school year)

  • Serves as member of the STAT Executive Committee
  • Chairs STAT standing committees
  • Serves on CAST planning committee
  • Represents the members of STAT legislatively, at mini-CASTs, and other events when appointed by the President
  • Works as needed at CAST
