STAT Summer Workshops

STAT is excited to partner with the Science Mill in Johnson City, Texas, to provide one-day continuing education opportunities for grades 3–5 and grades 6–8 educators, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., July 14 and July 15, 2025. 

Each workshop includes lunch, a tour of the Science Mill, and ready-to-use tools and resources you can take back to your classroom.

Grades 3–5: Unlocking Inquiry in Your 3–5 Classroom: A Hands-on Approach

When: 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Monday, July 14

This full-day workshop is designed to empower grades 3–5 educators with tools to bring inquiry-based learning to life through the 5E lesson model, direct TEKS connections and implementation strategies, and a deep dive into BBC micro:bit coding and application. From writing your first program in MakeCode to implementing a complete 5E lesson using micro:bit, you'll explore how to guide students through engaging, student-led learning experiences that encourage curiosity and creativity.

Teachers will receive a microcontroller kit, accessories, additional resources to utilize throughout the academic year, and support for incorporating coding and digital exploration as pathways to future STEM careers.
